Cons: No AF limiter and full-time manual focus
Pros: Incredible sharpness at f/4 and above, very low chromatic aberration, reliable autofocus, no distortion, no flare using studio strobes. Quite good construction.
Summary: Imho the best choice if you're looking for a Canon prime.

Cons: AF very slow and loudy. Poor design. No true usm. Maybe it's time for Canon to put in it a true usm motor...it worths
Pros: Outstanding image quality. Versatile and very very sharp.Fast aperture enough. Good color.
Summary: At this price, we could buy a great lens like this, or a poor zoom. Not difficult choice!

Cons: Non USM lens. Very slow focusing, especially from macro to infinity. Not true macro lens.
Pros: Outstanding picture quality. Wonderful colors, much better than those of 50mm f/1.8 II (I have both lenses)
Summary: This Canon's best standard lens. IQ is better than ANY of Canon 50mm primes, including L lenses (IMHO). Very under-appreciated and I think the only reason for that is a slow lens.

Cons: need extension tube for 1:1 macro. No usm; manual focusing difficult.
Pros: sharp, compact. Can also be used as regular 50mm lens.
Summary: Bargain lens: prime, compact and a true macro.
