13,5-Gigapixel Panorama of Warsaw

13,5-gigapixel panoramic photo was made from 1 428 individual images. This panorama was shot from the top of the Dominanta Praska, one of the office buildings in Warsaw, on May of 2011. The author is Radosław Piotrowski who has taken up panoramic photography since 2006. Panorama was creating in cooperation with Sigma ProCentrum and Optyczne.pl/LensTip.com. All images were made using Sigma lens – 300 mm F2.8 EX DG HSM APO.

At that same level of detail as normal printed photos, this photo could be printed 28 meters long and 3,5 meters tall. Two hours of shooting resulted in 1 428 images, every in resolution 6 048 x 4 032 pixels, and in additional one month of post-processing produced a single 53GB file in resolution 329 485 x 10 769 pixels. The effect is impressive – 13,5-gigapixels image of the capital of Poland. Now it is the largest panorama of city in Poland. Individual images was made by Sigma lens – 300mm F2.8 EX DG HSM APO with Nikon D3x camera. The camera fitted with 300mm Sigma lens was fixed on the robotic camera mount - Gigapan EPIC Pro. All equipment were put on the 15-metres mast. Thanks to this construction we achieved full 360 deg angle of view.
