The Sony company has in its offer only three instruments that can be used as portrait prime lenses. These are: the classic model 1.4/50, 2.8/100 Macro and 2.8/135. A portraitist can have some reservations to all of them. The 50 may seem too short, and the 100 to have too weak light, whereas the 135 too weak light or too long focal length for such a small matrix.

It is, therefore, not surprising, that Sony took advantage over its long cooperation with the Carl Zeiss company and commissioned them to design classic portrait lenses. In such a way such interesting models as : Carl Zeiss Planar 85 mm f/1.4 T* ZA and Carl Zeiss Sonnar 135 mm f/1.8 T* ZA appeared on the market.

We tested Sony Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85 mm f/1.4 thanks to the kindness of the Sony Poland .
