1. Introduction

On 8 June 2012 the Canon EF 40 mm f/2.8 STM, a full frame pancake lens, was launched along with the Canon EOS 650D reflex camera. It was a huge surprise. Never before the Canon company offered a „pancake” device in the EF system.

I must admit I have a soft spot for „pancakes” – they are small, physically light, handy and usually they fit smaller reflex cameras really well. As soon as I was given a chance to test the new Canon device I seized it immediately.

We would like to thank  Canon Poland for lending this piece of equipment for testing purposes.
