1. Introduction

There are not many lenses with an aperture larger than f/1.4 available on the market; small wonder every launch of such an instrument is an interesting event. The launch of the Fujinon XF 56 mm f/1.2 R wasn’t an exception to that rule, especially that the first announcements concerned rather an f/1.4 model; we were even able to handle and describe the lens’s prototype as soon as in September 2012 during the Photokina fairs. In December 2013 all of a sudden it turned out that the lens was going to have f/1.2 aperture and to be available in the first half of 2014. The official launch of the Fujinon XF 56 mm f/1.2 R took place during the CES fairs in January 2014.

Today it is our great pleasure to present the test results of that interesting optical instrument – enjoy your lecture! We would like to thank the Fotozakupy.pl shop for lending us one specimen for testing purposes.

You are also invited to get acquainted with our test procedure, described in the article "How do we test lenses?" If you feel it’s still not enough, please go to our FAQ section where you can find some further explanation.
