I admit it: personally, I am a very big fan of small ultra-wide angle lenses. Once I went to Iceland with the Fujifilm X-E1 and the Laowa 9 mm f/2.8 as the main lens, a small device providing an angle of view of as much as 113 deg. I have to say it was one of the most pleasant, problem-free journeys during which that tiny, manual lens performed admirably well. It had to be stopped down with landscape photography anyway and I could attach to it normal filters of decently small diameters. What's the most important, though, I didn't carry a lot of weight and the photographic results exceeded my expectations.

That's why the launch that happened on 3rd April 2023 made me very happy – on that day Sigma presented three new lenses, the C 17 mm f/4 DG DN among them. It's an ultra-wide angle midget that on full frame provides an angle of view of as much as 103.7 degrees, small but very shapely, and lightweight, weighing just 225 grams. It also allows you to use 55 mm filters. I think, if you join the Sigma with small bodies in the style of the Sony A7C or the Sigma fp it might be an excellent companion of many journeys and trips. I do hope I will be given a chance to test it that way.
