Overall
Owner since: 2 years
Price: 9000 Euro
User profile: Semipro
Cons: Min focussing distance is too long Blooming heavy, saves the gym. Monopods I tried didn\'t help. Price, obviously Special 1.25 TC makes focussing too slow and causes more loss than you think
Pros: Best bird lens ever. Sharp, bright etc At 63, it saves mit a lot of gymnastics. AF is very fast. Bokeh unbelievable. And, it is usable without a tripod because the weight is quite balanced. Tripod food is very sturdy and makes carrying easy.
Summary: My first one was stolen. It took me 5 years to save for another one.. but no regrets. I doubt very much that I will ever need another bird lens, well maybe at 80 when I get too weak. Since i own the beast, I have taken many birds that I couldn\'t have with a shorter lens, even used it for very rare dragonflies where I could not access closer. It also serves for other animals and the odd nature detail.
