Cons: Can put a bit of Stain on the Lens Mount if attention to supporting it is not paid
Pros: Very good Optics, even wide open. VR decent, especially when combined with Internal VR in the Zbodies
Summary: I got this back in Dec 2015. It has been a very good Lens, and very good value for the money. It would still be good Value even if it were priced 40 50% higher.

Cons: Build: plastic and unsealed.
Pros: Optically better than it should be, with good VR and relatively light.
Summary: Useful, but I have felt it necessary to add neoprene protection, and expensive protective filter and to avoid unusually dirty, dusty and wet conditions.

Cons: Very easy to handle, light for such a range and usefulness. Pretty fast for a lens of this price. VR is pretty outstanding, never used a Nikkor with such an efficient VR system. Photos handheld at 500mm and 1/30s become a reality, yes, read that again... In my view, makes it questionable to buy a prime 500 or 600mm that costs 8 times more. I\'ve read pro photographers question the relevance of keeping their Nikkor 800mm in front of this lens and the quality of the pictures you get with it. (Look at what Mark Smith achieves with this lens and a D500 on Youtube...) Performance/price ratio is unbeatable IMHO.
Pros: Locks only at 200mm, and the locking system is fragile. Make sure you are at 200mm before atempting to lock it, otherwise you risk breaking the internal locking system, which probably is just a little piece of plastic. Also, don\'t try to extend the zoom if it\'s locked for the same reason. What else...?
Summary: This lens will become a classic, if it\'s not already so! The most bang for you buck for a Nikon branded lens of this focal range, out of this world VR, very useful range, not too heavy, very good build quality, f/5.6 is quite useful and a good compromise. What else could you hope for. This is the lens a LOT of photographers had been wating for. Last, I\'m not a Nikon rep nor do I get anything from Nikon...

Pros: Exquisite bokeh for an f5.6 zoom...rivals my 500 f4 VR @ f5.6
Summary: Nikon hit this one out of the park. Coupled with the D500 it's the best combo for BIF/wildlife under $3500.

Cons: No Lock for each distance like on the Sigmas (minor issue) Have onlys had it for one month and have so far not found any other cons.
Pros: Ligther than the Sigma S, very good optical quality. VR very good. I can shoot 1 stop slower than on the Sigma S (that I had for 6 months) Good in bad weather conditions due to the fixed 5.6 aperture. It Works fine with my TC 17EII Thus becomes a 850mm f/9.5
Summary: Easy to handle, AF not extremly fast, nor slow either. Use the limiter. Optical performance even better than that of the AF-S 80-400 It is very Sharp with my TC 17EII and AF Works well, but slower than normal, especially when cloudy. I use it on D810 and D750
