Cons: Not APO. Aperture clicks are too soft and too close to each other. Not the best macro lens around (mild distortion, field not completely flat, 1:2 magnification). Some coma.
Pros: Low CA, low LoCA, low distortion, sharp and contrasty, able to deliver "punchy" images. Excellent allrounder, with rendering coming close to Leica, and fully usable wide open.
Summary: An improved version of the already very good 50/2 macro planar. The former version had only one serious issue, namely rising flare (blueish haze) on stopping down, when shooting against the light. This has now been fixed thanks to better coatings (but the Zeiss 35/2 is still better here). Also, color neutrality is better (predecessor had a warm / yellowish rendering). Otherwise, the optical formula is apparently the same, which is good news.
