Cons: * Big & Heavy * Manual focus works great with mirrorless cameras, which makes you wonder wether they could have made it smaller and ligher * Some fringing wide open (although this helps the lens achieve definitive 3d look) * A miniature area in the very corners has about 20 pixels that would look a bit smudged even if the entire frame is crystal sharp * You must have enough photographic experience to be able to truly appreciate the look the lens has. Once you do, you will be hooked on Milvus lenses and find yourself on the social support line before you even realize it. * Shooting very close can create slightly distracting bokeh, so be careful with busy subjects shot from MFD (flowers, etc). * Huge vignetting wide open
Pros: * Sharp and punchy across the entire frame makes it great landscape lens and can be used for panoramas (but you may need to close a stop or two). * Nice, distinctive rendering with unique, cinematic colors. * If you know how to, you can get slightly swirled bokeh. Combined with heavy vignetting wide open, it makes it great to focus on the subject. * All-rounder performance - great sharpness for landscapes, gentle rendering for portraits. * Fantastic build quality
Summary: This is not a lens you would like to carry around all day long, although it will be able to capture every scene you throw at it. It also requires an experience user who can handle both manual focus, and working with the character to take the best of the lens. You can argue that there are few lenses today that can compete with this Milvus for being the ultimate 85mm. Its performance is very convincing and you will be able to mount it on many mirrorless cameras that come and go, while it will still perform flawlessly.
