Cons: Weight and filter size. Also considerable Longitudinal CA until f5.6. Not as sharp as I was hoping wide open. Gradually picks up where it peaks at f5.6.

Pros: Good color, clarity and accurate AF once calibrated. Peaks at f5.6 for resolution and contrast. No noticeable CA.

Summary: This, along with the Sigma 50 f1.4 A, is the sharpest, cleanest lens I\'ve owned. Was just hoping it was better wide open.

Cons: - Huge 86mm filter thread but still noticeable vignetting on full frame. - Out of the box, suffered from quite a bit of non-linear back focus.

Pros: - Big lens, but balances well on gripped body. - Very sharp lens over the whole frame, even wide open. - Solid build. - Fast, silent, and consistent auto focus. - Adjustable auto focus at 4 distance settings via USB dock (allowed to perfectly compensate for the back focus)

Summary: Replaces my Canon 85mm F1.8 USM and I am very pleased. In initial test shots, I did not notice a huge improvement in image quality over the Canon (but I think i have an excellent copy of that lens), but in the field, I get far superior results with the Sigma that justify the much higher price. I use this for indoor sports and while F1.4 makes a big difference over F1.8, it is the excellent sharpness wide open that makes this lens. So far, I have never felt the need to stop it down. Also, auto focus, after calibrating it to the camera body via the USB dock, leaves nothing to be desired and performs on an L lens level.
