Cons: Painfully slow AF and to make things worse MF is focus by wire. When you take into account the imperceptible differences in DOF vs f1.4, this lens make little sense with f1.4 L and Sigma around.
Pros: For its time a unique lens, but the optics really do show that time in a past sense.
Summary: Rather overpriced used and new (and overhyped to be quite frank). Youd be better off served by 85/1.4 sigma or canon

Cons: SSLLOOWW AF!!!
Pros: Doesn't get any better optically.
Summary: Beautiful portraits, even beyond beautiful. This original version is a little more affordable than the model II.

Cons: Slow focusing, expensive, Canon also makes a very good portrait lens, the F1.8.
Pros: This is pure magic, sharp at F1.2. Beautiful made and a joy to see. There is no better portrait lens this fast
Summary: You must fall in love with this lens, it gives you what no other lens can give you. Ans a little crazy, that helps also.
