Cons: Heavy sample variations - test your copy!

Pros: - by far the lightest ultra-wide angle zoom of all brands, all times - astonishing sharpness throughout the frame and all over the zoom range - good to very good overall optical parameters with some exception of vignetting - well thought out parameters with electronic zoom

Summary: his construction is an optical masterpiece that makes the competition look old. How can such a portable and super light ultra wide angle zoom lens be so good optically and even offer an electronic zoom button with smooth and continuous zooming? This lens was the reason why I switched from MFT to Sony APS-C. Panasonic cameras like the G9II are too heavy for hiking and the only MFT lens that comes close is the PanasonicLeica 2.8-4.0/8-18. While the Leica is at a comparable sharpness level in general, it falls off in the corners. Vignetting is better on the Leica - the Sony\'s only weak point. But hey, this thing weighs 315g compared to 178g for the Sony - even though it covers the larger sensor! The big BUT: Sony\'s quality control leaves a lot to be desired! I sent back more than one sample due to decentering issues.
