Cons: Slow AF, Noisy AF. Lens hood too long. AF lock only works in auto. Too easy to bump aperture ring/manual focus rings. Is this lens too short? High price for what you are getting.
Pros: Stellar Optics, lightweight, small size
Summary: After releasing 3 nearly flawless primes (the new 18, 23, 33), all with superior AF systems compared to their originals, Fuji decided that updating the optics of the new 56 was basically good nuff\'. The optics are amazing. But the AF system is basically a non-starter for video shooters. For stills, it will be controversial. It has both stunned me and frustrated me. Maybe that is why I love it - after 20 misses, when I get a true keeper the reward is sweet. This probably should not be your first prime. But definitely your second, or third - preferably used, when the price will be abetter match to its capabilities.

Cons: Price; pretty noisy, pretty slow AF; compromised ergos.
Pros: Image quality; small size/ light weight; pretty close focusing; bokeh. Weather sealing
Summary: The image quality of this lens is impeccable and gorgeous wide open to f/11 - sharp, contrasty, rich colors. Bokeh is excellent and soft. AF is two personalities. It can be punchy, fast, and accurate, to the point where I\'ve been impressed. But in lower light/closer range it can also slow down quite a lot, hunt, or otherwise fail to keep up. This is a lens that rewards the extra effort - but you\'ll probably be making that extra effort often. The lens hood does its job, but is like a lampshade stored on the lens which feels cheap and blocks the aperture ring (annoying). Aperture ring lock only locks the lens into \"auto\", which is somewhat pointless IMO. I\'d say the pros outweigh the cons, but this lens should cost less given its flaws - say $700 or $800. For me the pros outweighed the cons, but definitely would love to have seen faster AF - even if that meant the lens was longer or weighed more. It would have repaid us with more versatility. If they can cram 4 motors into the 90mm or 3 into the 50-140, they could do it with this one.
