Price: 450€

Cons: Hughe and heavy.
Pros: Sharp, smooth contrast, pleasent colors, low ditorsion, really good bokeh wide open for this kind of zoom, fast and accurate AF.
Summary: Perfectly balance image quality and for an incredible price nowadays. Do you really need IS and/or weather sealing? If the honest asnwer is NOT AT ALL, stop looking around. This might be your standard zoom lens.

Cons: Not much other than it being no longer produced and not weather sealed. adding a seal t the mount and a filter might help.
Pros: Lens is tack sharp, fast, quiet and boasts beautiful colors with minimum distortion. My 28-70 outperformed mt friends 24-70 through mot of it's range.
Summary: Just a wonderful range

Cons: A little slow focus. At full aperture vigneting and bad corners. Old.
Pros: Very sharp from f 4,5. Beautiful colors.
Summary: Good basic lens for all photography.

Owner since: 7 years
Price: USD 1450 N
User profile: Semipro
Cons: None
Pros: Still the benchmark even though it's been discontinued for about 15 years. This lens is one of the reasons that Canon dethroned Nikon from the number one position back in the 90's.
Summary: Optically as good as it gets plus fast AF. Also very strongly built. Older lens that lacks weathersealing but that doesn't seem to slow it down. Not cheap these days and no IS but all the same, it's well worth the price.
