Cons: Diameter Outdoor practicallity Lens hood more for decoration than use

Pros: Price Image Quality on APS-C Good indoor lens Full frame compatible

Summary: Purchased second hand, in 'as new' condition, shortly after I 'went digital'. When I discovered the performance of the kit lens supplied by Pentax, I pretty quickly aquired some alternatives. Aparently the Pentax kit lens is one of the better ones supplied by camera makers, according to reviews I have read. The kit lens is not bad within its middle range, but awfull at wide angle. This Vivitar is vastly superior. Performance on my various Pentax DSLRs is MUCH better than many online reviews suggest. I had little hesitation purchasing a lens in this focal length used, as it is a lens that is likely to see little use, unless owned by an estate agent. The seller stated he had only used it a couple of times, and I have only used it on a couple of occasions each year. It is good for indoor use when wide angle is most typically expedient. The large front element (and wide angle) make a polarizer impractical, and can pick up sun flair outdoors. This lens may not be the best wide angle available, however, it IS good for indoors; childrens' parties and the like.
