Cons: Lens flare is possible without lens hood when shooting into a light source. Not as bad as everyone says it to be.
Pros: Well built. Very good optical quality.
Summary: There are two versions. Optically they are identical, the difference between the two is cosmetics. I have and use both versions. This lens is well built. Optically it is very good too. It delivers better results than some primes in this range. The results on my 24mp body are quite good. I can highly recommend this lens!

User profile: Semipro
Cons: A bit soft wide open, AF not the fastest (unnnecessary with wide-angles), heavier than comparable Sigma 17-35/2.8-4.
Pros: Stopped down slightly performance becomes convincing and makes this Tamron a very versatile, not too big, rugged lens with high optical quality.
Summary: A very good performer for a low price (like its brothers SP 28-105/2.8 and 200-400/5.6 LD), but rather rare.

Cons: - very Vulnerable to flares - very low optical performance completely open (just gets usable at f/4) - is vignetting much - strong distortion at 20mm wide open
Pros: - metal construction - front lens doesn't rotate while focusing - cheap fullframe 20mm wideangle !
Summary: I use this lens on my Nikon D700. Compared to other Nikon Lenses it delivers very different colors than Nikkor Lenses. Personally, I love the way this lens renders blue and green tones.
