9. Ghosting and flares
Years passed and it seems Tokina haven't drawn any conclusions from that slip-up. They still experience a lot of problems with producing wide angle lenses that could perform decently well against bright light.
What can be done? Images are worth a thousand words so let me just encourage strongly all my Readers to scroll down the page till the very end and admire all these images that can be generated with the tested Tokina. I can forgive flares when the sun is situated inside the frame but it's hard to understand why light artifacts still destroy the frame when the source of light is moved away more than several dozen degrees outside the frame. Taking photos with such a lens during a sunny day is a kind of lottery – you never know what you are going to catch...
