Lately Sony have successively been launching improved versions of their classic journalistic lenses. In October 2021 we saw the FE 70-200 mm f/2.8 GM OSS II and in April the FE 24-70 mm f/2.8 GM II. It wasn't difficult to guess that a launch of a successor of the Sony FE 16-35 mm f/2.8 GM, shown on the market in May 2017 so not so long ago, was just a matter of time.
The launch of that successor took place near the end of August 2023 in a form of the Sony FE 16-35 mm f/2.8 GM II that is supposed to be not only physically lighter and smaller than its older version but also optically better, with an enhanced autofocus performance.
