User profile: Amateur
Cons: It's like looking through a straw which makes it difficult to acquire moving subjects
Pros: Reach, Image Quality, Ultra Low Distortion, Ultra Low Chromatic Aberration, 4 Stop Image Stabilization, Weather Sealing
Summary: This lens is at its best when mounted on a tripod with a gimbal. It creates a very pleasing bokeh wide open. Stops down extremely well for deep focus detail. Supreme Color Rendition & Contrast.

Cons: Price, weight, 6 meter minimum focus distance, does not AF with Canon 2 x Mk3 extender.
Pros: Reach, Image Quality, build quality, very fast AF for an F5.6 lens, 4 stop IS
Summary: In my opinion this is possibly the ultimate lens for small bird photography. I have not had it long but the Canon 800 shows better IQ than my 600 F4 L IS (Mk1) and is close to my 300 F2.8 (no mean feat!). If you really need the reach the have a good long look at this lens!
