Cons: - Maybe slightly soft on the extreme focal lengths. Apparently there is a large deviation between specimens, but I ordered it online, so I couldn't test it.

Pros: - Zoom range a lot more useful than 18-55 kit-lens and far better quality. - Great build quality - Silent and fast focusing

Summary: (Using Sony A550) A great replacement of the standard kit-lens. Not too large a zoom, so image quality is better maintained throughout its reach. I'm currently using it paired with a Sigma 70-300, which is a great combination for starters.

Cons: Diaphram is not accurate at 125mm. OS system remains ON whenever selector is on OFF. Nikkor lens 18-70mm is very sharper in the center of the frame expecially > 35mm, while Sigma offers a more homogenous performance with true borders too.

Pros: Surplisingly excellent construction for a low-range zoom. Incredibile price/performance ratio. Distorsion is generally under good control, fairly better than 18-105 and 18-135 Nikkors.

Summary: Quality is not constant. Tried two different lenses and choose the better one.
