Summary: best value if you look for a studio lens between 24 and 35 for aps-c (except productfotos)

Cons: color fringing at 18mm-21mm, corner softness at wider focal range, 18mm @ f2.8 isn't sharp enough, only 50mm zoom end, focus ring feels loose, slight vignetting,
Pros: fast, quiet HSM, accurate AF, smooth damped zoom ring, self contain zooming, no extension, great build quality with solid feel, comes with a nice lens hood, great pictures at all focal range @ f4 to F11, no flaring issues,
Summary: a very good upgrade from the kit 18-55mm kit lens. useful f2.8 for low light situation, and only f4.5 at tele end, great solid construction, very accurate fast AF HSM. great buy and good optics for $200
