Overall
Owner since: 2 years
Price: $45
User profile: Semipro
Cons: The Zuiko lens shown is single coated and more subject to flare than the MC variant. This lens has a slight amount of coma.
Pros: Per MTF charts: very high resolution, very sharp, high contrast. Per lab tests; very slight barrel distortion, and no chromatic aberration. Excellent mechanics. Images rendered are very well balanced across the frame with very high colour accuracy.
Summary: An excellent lens overall and the best price/value of all legacy lenses. With very high resolution and zero chromatic aberration, this lens is excellent for a high MP digital sensor. Optical quality rated at 4, because the Zuiko MC 1.4/50 gives yet a higher MTF performance. But even at 4, this lens will produce stunning images after some postpro is applied. [note: All lenses must be profiled for digital. With no in-camera profile for a legacy lens, all legacy must have some postpro to bring out the best IQ. This Zuiko is so excellent as to require minimal postpro].
