Cons: None if you compare to other similar lenses. They are all compromises. Excellent to 80mm, good stopped down to 150mm, very good at 200. These aren't primes don't forget.
Pros: All in one versatility. Hugely important if you're walking around or on holiday. Throw in a 50mm 1.8d and you're covered for anything.
Summary: Brilliant piece of kit.

Cons: Very big and heavy. The AF is not fast and can be frustrating. It is a plastic lens.
Pros: For the money it is a very good lens, the VR is very effective and the image quality is better than some more expensive Nikon primes.
Summary: Great value for the money, great for amateurs.

Cons: Resolution above 80-100mm focal length is modest. Distorsion at short focal lengths is noticeable, not worse than other kit lenses though. Expensive.
Pros: Very convenient all-purpose lens with passable image quality especially below 100mm. Not worse than a kit zoom lens, still can go to 200mm if the need arises!
Summary: This lens is not worse than any kit zoom below 100mm, and on occasion you can go up to 200mm with a quality that remains acceptable. Good for 1-lens trips but you need other, better telephoto lenses for serious work.
