Cons: terrible CA's wide open on wide angle not so sharp as expected for this high price, especially in the corners
Pros: solid construction
Summary: I find the price of this lens is too high compared with results on f 2,8. A lens with smaller aperture and all elements of traditional glass will give even better results

Cons: Build is correct, but don't forget to block the zoom before you remove it : dust can go inside the lense. 17 mm with lots of barrel, witch is quite normal on this type of lense
Pros: good overall quality, sharp until f/4, f/2.8 a bit soft, but usable Stabilization is excellent, works well. No big issues while shooting in raw, every thing can be fixed.
Summary: It was my first lense, and it never let me down. I made 5000 pictures with it, and I still use it when I need a wide angle.

Cons: -Zoom-ring turns the oposite way then Canon lenses. -Noisy AF. -Sometimes struggling to find focus in low-light situations.
Pros: +Image quality. +The price.
Summary: An affordable upgrade from the kit lens with great image quality. Highly recommended for begginers. Beats the newer version with IS in terms of image quality.

Cons: The image begins to soften at apertures below f13. This is, however, to be expected in a lens of this size. In any case, at f13 depth of field extends from a little less than 3ft to infinity which should be adequate for most situations.
Pros: Excellent image quality between f5.6 - f11. Compact size.
Summary: An attractive and affordable alternative to kit lenses.

Cons: massive amount of barrel distortion at 17mm slow(ish) + noisy af plasticy barrel with poor focusing ring poor dof control
Pros: vc works very well looks impressive resonably good iq
Summary: Had high hopes for this lens; i was expecting a highly portable walkaround lens which offered a wide aperture (thus useful for portraits) coupled with vc to do low-light gigs+parties. While the lens is useful; i would recommend a cheaper varient (namely the sigma {renowned for excellent af etc} or the non-vc {which apparently exhibits less distortion and has higher iq} ) and save the extra money for a portrait specific lens (i have now also bought an ef 85mm f/1.8; absoloutely amazing glass <3 )
