Cons: Significant distortion at 16mm Soft at 35mm Focus Ring lacks finesse

Pros: A portable ultra-wide zoom that accepts 77mm filters Focuses internally VR is more useful than I expected Speculars lack definition (poor starburst effect) Very close minimum focusing distance / reproduction ratio

Summary: It is overall a good lens but not a great value.

Cons: f/4 Aperture, not going to 14mm (why ?),

Pros: VR. Focal range. Image quality (center)

Summary: Moderate wide angle zoom not going to beat the 14-24. I was just testing the 16-35, not intending to buy it.

Cons: Barrel distortion at 16-19mm. Easy to correct in post-processing, but it costs time and effectively after correction 16mm gets to 18mm

Pros: Razor sharp / great contrast and colors / excellent VR

Summary: If there wasn't distortion on its shorter end, it would cost double and I would give it 5 stars. I like this lens very much

Cons: High distortion at 16mm but can reasonably easily be adjusted. The distortion has never ruined a photo nor have I found where I can't adjust it satisfactorily.

Pros: Good zoom range, sharp, contrasty, excellent colour rendition and the VR is VERY handy for inside churches/cathedrals and castles etc where it is usually dim where you want to use decent apertures for DOF and thenhave the advantage of VR.

Summary: A great travel lens or general purpose extreme wide angle zoom

Cons: Soft edges at 16mm f/4, Heavy distortion at 16mm

Pros: Razor sharp. Very convenient range. VR is useful.

Summary: Great lens for landscape photographers

Cons: Barrel distortion from 16 to 20 on my copy. Much bigger lens than I thought it should be. AF abilities in low light less than expected.

Pros: Sharp, great colors and contrast. VR works well and can be handy at these focal lengths.

Summary: Actually had a couple of copies to try. Decided to stay with the AF-S 17-35 f2.8 for the speed and ability to AF in the darkest conditions.

    Cons: Relatively big size.

Pros: The sharpest ultra-wideangle I've used. Incredible detailed, contrasty images. VR is effective so rather slow f/4 is not an issue (except for sports). Often reported distortion at 16mm is not to be noticed in most ladscape-shots. Due to partly plastic build, it's lightweight for it's size. Love the Nano-Coating for eliminating most of flaring. Nice Bokeh (if you manage background-distraction with an ultra-wide).

Summary: Best sharpness and overall image quality for just USD 1200. Will keep the lens.
