Cons: Needs service befor used for the first time, no aperture ring, AF has some weekness when used as normal tele (not as macro)

Pros: Superb macro lens for a very, very attractive price, fast and accurate AF in macro range, optical stabilization

Summary: I recommend this lens as an excellent macro, not as a tele. As any younger Sigma it needs service to be adjusted individually to one's camera. Therefore it has to be sent to Sigma together with the camera. They will fine-tune the lens within one week without charge. Alternatively you can buy an electronic device with which you can set the AF parameters for all Sigma lenses by your own. But it is said that the procedure drives you crazy and that the result is not as good as done by Sigma service. After service I've got a superb ultra-sharp macro and I really love it. AF is fast and precise and can even be used to catch a bee while flying. Among all of my lenses this one has the highest value for money. It replaces my 20 years old Nikkor 60/2.8 micro on my digital Nikon but the Sigma lens is incompatible to older 35mm film Nikons and cannot be adapted to a Sony NEX camera. Overall this lens is worth to ignore the cons as listed above.
