10. Autofocus

The tested lens is equipped with an USM ultrasonic autofocus motor. Mainly because of that the focusing mechanism is silent and very efficient. Running through the whole distance range takes just about 0.4 of a second, no matter in what direction goes the scale. What’s more, that value doesn’t change even in poor lighting conditions. Here the Canon should be only praised.

When it comes to the accuracy once again it should be described in superlatives. The number of misses in studio conditions didn’t exceed 1% which is an excellent result.

What’s important, the lens didn’t have any front or back focus tendency on any of three different bodies used in our test.
