4. Summary

The specimen of the Sigma A 105 mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro that we were sent was a preproduction model so we didn't test it thoroughly. Still, one glance at sample shots allows you to know what class of equipment you deal with. You get an excellent image quality up from the maximum relative aperture and it even improves on stopping down the aperture to f/4.0 and f/5.6.

You can't be sure whether the final product will get result close to record levels because it's not an easy task for an f/2.8 lens; still we don't doubt that MTF50 function values will be very high and the lens will perform as it befits a top-of-the-range, good quality macrophotography instrument.
