In November 2007, Tokina announced the release of the AT-X 116 Pro 11-16 F/2.8, which is supposed to compliment the 16-50 F/2.8 and the 50-135 F/2.8, further widening the set. Thanks to this, the manufacturer can provide us with a lineup of three lenses designed for APS-C/DX sensors maintaining the aperture of F/2.8 throughout the entire range of 11 to 135 mm.

Tokina 11-16 is a unique piece of photographic equipment. All its competitors, such as Canon 10-22 mm, Nikkor 12-24 mm, Pentax 12-24 mm, Sigma 10-20 mm or Tamron 11-18 mm are no faster than F/4. Tokina goes one step beyond, giving us the constant aperture of F/2.8. Until now, such parameters have been reserved for full frame owners and even they have had to supply with pricey lenses, such as Nikkor 14-24 F/2.8 or Canon 16-35 F/2.8 L. Now the world of ultra-wide-angle glass is open for amateurs as well. Is it worth our interest? We hope the reading of the next chapters answers the question.
