11. Summary
- very good build quality,
- excellent image quality at the center of the frame at all focal lengths,
- very good image quality at the edge of the frame,
- very-well controlled astigmatism,
- slight distortion and longer focal lengths,
- marvelous work against bright light,
- fast, silent and accurate autofocus,
- three years of warranty with optional two more.
Cons:
- large chromatic aberration in the middle of focal lengths,
- quite large distortion at the shortest focal length,
- very large vignetting,
- noticeable coma.
Sigma 10-20 mm f/3.5 turned out to be better than its predecessor in many serious aspects. We have really good speed now – in this category Sigma is only beaten by Tokina 11-16 mm f/2.8. Most of all, however, was corrected the behavior at the edge of the frame, which was the Achilles’ heel of the older model. The performance at the center of the frame wasn’t forgotten, either. The MTF values recorded now place Sigma in the very lead of this equipment class. At the same time, we still have a very good build quality, very good autofocus and excellent work against bright light.

Unfortunately, not everything went in the direction we desired. We expected that improving speed will increase vignetting. We didn’t expect, though, that by so much. It’s a shame too that chromatic aberration wasn’t held as good as it was in the older model.
Summing up, we have another lens worth recommendation on the market. As for the question whether or not it will be better than Canon 10-22 mm, Nikkor 10-24 mm, Tamron 10-24 mm or Tokina 11-16, we won’t answer. That’s our Readers task.
