Samsung NX 30 mm f/2.0

6. Distortion

The pictures shot with the Samsung NX 30 mm f/2.0 are characterized by a slight but noticeable –1.13% barrel distortion. Taking into account the fact that classic 50 mm devices, having a comparable angle of view on full frame, reach the results at the level of –2.0% the Samsung should be more praised than criticized here.

The obtained result was based on the analysis of a RAW file but, as a curiosity, we can add that the distortion is partially corrected on JPEG files on the body menu level which also entails some restrictions of the pictures’ field of view. If you want to make the most of your lens’s field of view, it’s worth using the RAW format, not the JPEG after connecting it to the NX10.
