The Canon’s EF 2.8/20 mm look is typical and classic for this company’s prime lenses with an USM motor. A solid metal casing sticks out at once; it is ended by a metal bayonet mount on one side and by a slightly convex element which is supposed to offer a 94.5-degree angle of view on the other side.

Inside the lens we’ll find 11 elements in 9 groups and an aperture with five diaphragm blades, which can be stopped down to f/22.

The autofocus mechanism, based on an USM motor, moves elements inside the casing so the lens is weather-sealed and can cooperate with different filters without any problems; in this case the filters should be 72 mm in diameter.
