The Voigtlander Ultron 40 mm f/2 SL II Aspherical is an interesting lens with a lot of assets. Its parameters are original and they allow you to use it on reflex cameras with different size of sensors; it also features a relatively good fastness still remaining rather physically small. Its optics is good (but not outstanding) and its barrel – splendid and very solid. Because of the combination of two last advantages this lens will last you for years – you can be sure it will perform equally well today, tomorrow and most probably in 30 years’ time too.

The tested instrument is far from flawless. The important thing is that if you look at our tests of other 35-50 mm lenses, with the apertures ranging from f/1.4 to f/2.0, you will find these three Voigtlander’s disadvantages also concern practically each and every one of them.
