Sigma 70 mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro
3. Build quality
On the side of the casing we see an autofocus mode switch – it can be set at full or limited (from 0.257 to 0.48 of a meter or from 0.55 of a meter to infinity). In the limited mode of the second range the dimensions of the lens change just by about one centimeter. When you pass to the full range mode and you set focus starting with the minimum possible distance the front element system extends by as many as six centimeters.

The construction of the Sigma 2.8/70 includes one SLD glass (Special Low Dispersion) elements and two high refraction index elements which are supposed to ensure good correction of any chromatic aberrations. Overall the lens consists of 10 elements positioned in 9 groups.
The DG symbol on the casing lets us know that the lens was given anti-reflection multi-coatings to damp down all flares, including those being a filter sensor reflections.
Typically for a Sigma a quite rich accessory kit is being included in the box. Buyers get both caps, a hood and a solid hard case.
