The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17 mm f/1.8 lens is equipped with an MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) focusing mechanism. The autofocus is really noiseless (you can’t hear even the quiet whirr of shifting elements) and very fast. While it was attached to the E-PL1 which belongs to our editorial office, running through the whole distance scale took it not longer than 0.5-0.6 of a second which is a very good result.

Traditionally there were no accuracy problems as well. In studio conditions we didn’t notice one single misfocus. If you add to it the lack of any front or back focus tendencies the overall image of the tested mechanism will be very positive indeed.
