The Tamron SP 90 mm f/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD is equipped with an USD ultrasonic autofocus motor. It works really quietly and its fastness deserves to be praised as well. Running through the whole scale (which is wide because we deal here with a macro device) takes about 1 second. In poor lighting conditions the motor slows down a bit and moves by leaps – it is faster in one part of the scale and then it gets slower as it approaches the mark. If you apply the focus limiter and start working in the range from 0.5 of a meter to infinity the autofocus will work as quick as lightning. Running through that part of the scale takes just about 0.4 of a second. So far the lens can be only praised.

What about the accuracy? No serious reservations either. In studio conditions the lens missed only in 2.5% of cases which is a very good result. On both bodies it set the focus exactly where it should, without any traces of front or back focus.
