9. Ghosting and flares

As we wrote several chapters ago, the front element of the lens is just slightly hidden in the casing so not sheltered from side light. What’s more, the complex optical system makes it possible for the light to be reflected from as many as 28 air-to-glass surfaces. Due to those factors the lens works moderately well against bright light. You can catch flares no matter what detector, focal length or aperture you apply.
