Work against bright light should be perceived as the biggest slip-up of the tested lens. A huge front element, which is hardly hidden inside the casing, catches side light quite willingly. As a result the contrast is decreased and, even if you keep the sun outside the frame, you can still catch distinct, bright artifacts.
To defend the Tamron a bit you can use two arguments. First, some rivals don’t fare better in this category – in order to find out that much it’s enough you look at our test of the Canon 100-400L. Second, with such parameters, the situations with the sun is positioned close to the frame are rare indeed. Unless, of course, you would like to make our daily star the main object of your photos because you want to immortalize the sun spots or a solar eclipse.
