Sigma C 18-200 mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM

10. Autofocus

The Sigma C 18–200 mm was equipped with an HSM ultrasonic autofocus motor so the work of the mechanism is silent. Its speed , however, we assess as average. Running through the whole distance scale and focusing takes about 0.8 of a second. It is not the worst result, far from it, but taking into account a very narrow angle of the ring it could have been a bit better.

We don’t have any reservations concerning the accuracy of the autofocus. In studio conditions the Sigma missed in less than 2% of cases which we consider a very good result.

The tested lens, attached to the Canon 50D didn’t have any front or back focus tendencies.
