Fujifilm Fujinon XC 16-50 mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS

10. Autofocus

If you use the tested lens with the Fuji X-M1 or the older X-E1 and X-Pro1 cameras but with the newest software the performance of the focusing mechanism will be very fast and silent. The lens can cover the whole range and focus on an object situated far away, moving from the minimum focusing distance to infinity, in 0.2-0.3 of a second which is really fast. The work in the opposite direction is a bit slower – the whole operation lasts by 0.1-0.2 of a second longer- but still in both cases the speed is more than satisfactory and the mechanism is a joy to use.

The accuracy of the autofocus was beyond reproach. In studio conditions the Fujinon 16-50 mm focused with a high precision on spot it was supposed to, no matter what focal length we used; none of the observed deviations was big enough to qualify as a miss.

The lens didn’t have any front or back focus tendencies either.
