Fujifilm Fujinon XF 10-24 mm f/4R OIS
9. Ghosting and flares
Still the situation is hardly as perfect as it seems at first glance – the photos of our favourite postbox, taken at 24 mm, are the proof. In the moment of shooting the sun was on the right side, very far from the frame edge but still we registered, with a surprise, a distinct contrast decrease. That effect could be observed in a very specific position only; after moving the camera a bit it disappeared, as shown in photos below.
The conclusion? If you want to take photos without a hood you should be vigilant – visible artifacts can appear in the frame all of a sudden and sometimes surprise you completely. Fortunately the problem is not very serious, concerning just one position of the source of light and concrete parameters.
