10. Autofocus

The tested lens is equipped with a quiet, ultrasonic SWM motor so the autofocus works noiselessly. Still it is not fast. Running through the whole distance scale and setting the focus takes about one second – it is not an impressive result. Fortunately the producer decided to add a focus limiter – after setting it on the 3 meters to infinity range the focusing time decreases to about 0.5 of a second.

The accuracy of the mechanism can be described only in superlatives. The lens is perhaps not very fast but perfectly accurate. In studio conditions during our test it didn’t have any serious miss one single time. Such a result is impressive.

We also didn’t have any special problems with front or back focus tendencies. On both bodies used in our test the lens performed as it should.
