Panasonic G 42.5 mm f/1.7 ASPH. POWER O.I.S.
8. Vignetting
Olympus E-PL1, f/1.7 | Olympus E-PL1, f/2.0 |
At the maximum relative aperture you must take into account a loss of 37% (−1.34 EV) of light in the frame corners. It is a result noticeably worse than the result of the Olympus 1.8/45 which lost just 21% of light. Still you should remember that the Panasonic is a bit faster, aperture-wise so it’s worth checking its performance by f/2.0. In the case of the Panasonic the vignetting amounts to 26% (−0.88 EV), and in the case of the Olympus 15%. You can forget about vignetting already by f/2.8 where that aberration decreases to 9% (−0.28 EV).

The results above concern JPEG files. The software of the camera doesn’t correct that aberration and the values we got in RAW files were the same within 1-3% of margin of error.
