7. Coma, astigmatism and bokeh

As long as you employ the APS-C/DX detector you can forget about coma and other aberrations which might cause the deforming the image of the diode in the frame corner; still in the corner of full frame the situation gets complicated. The diode becomes deformed quite significantly and that effect is visible even when you stop down the lens by 1 EV.

We don’t have any reservations concerning the astigmatism correction, though. An average difference between vertical and horizontal MTF50 function values amounted to 3.1% and as such can be called low.

Defocused light circles look very sensibly indeed and they make me think that the blurry, out-of-the-focus areas provided by this lens will be pleasing to the eye. Of course we wish the lens had nine diaphragm blades all the same.
