Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 35 mm f/2.8 ZA
10. Autofocus
When it comes to the accuracy the performance of the mechanism is beyond reproach. We checked it in our testing studio by taking several dozen of shots with the lens set by f/2.8. 30% of them hit precisely on subject (differing by less than 5% from the resolution of the best photo), the next 53% consisted of photos with 5-10 % of difference from the best shot and the rest of 17% fitted in the range from 10 to 15%. There were no results with worse resolution than 15% from the best photo.
We didn’t observe any serious problems with front or back focus either. If you look closely at the photo below you might notice very slight back focus but the effect is so negligible that the proper object still remains within the depth of field. It wouldn’t be an issue whatsoever.
