10. Autofocus

The focusing mechanism, with the lens attached to the Panasonic G7, is noiseless and very fast. Running through the whole range and confirming the focus takes about 0.2-0.3 of a second and that value doesn’t depend on the direction and/or focal length. If you choose the “Pinpoint AF” mode that time can extend to about one second.

It is a very pleasant property of the Micro 4/3 system that it has no problems concerning the accuracy of the autofocus. The Panasonic 12-60 mm is not an exception to that rule and its accuracy was perfect, no matter whether it was attached to the Panasonic G7 or the Olympus E-PL1.

When the lens was cooperating with the Panasonic G7 there were no problems concerning front or back focus. Similar thing could be said about 40 mm focal length, with the lens attached to the Olympus E-PL1. Still, after passing to 60 mm you could notice slight front focus.
