When it comes to the astigmatism understood as an average difference between horizontal and lateral MTF function values we don’t have any reservations. Its value, as measured by us, amounted to just 1.8% so you shouldn’t worry about it at all.

A fast portrait lens should be able to provide very nice out-of-focus areas and here we don’t have any reservations either. The Nikkor’s circles of light are very nice and smooth, without any local extremes. Even a rim which appears after stopping down is not especially intensive. The only criticism is connected with pronounced mechanical vignetting which truncates circles in frame corners.
