Carl Zeiss Batis 18 mm f/2.8

9. Ghosting and flares

A piece of very good news: the Zeiss Batis 2.8/18 works well against bright light. At the maximum relative aperture the light artifacts are reduced to the minimum and the photos are properly contrasted. Still it should be noticed that the situation worsens when you move the source of light outside the frame – even if you put it really far away, images still might have red colouring. Similar but definitely less bothersome performance of the lens can be observed when you stop down the aperture in a significant way.
