6. Distortion

Fujifilm optics constructors are hardly consistent when it comes to the distortion correction.  In some lenses they correct it as it should be done and in some that aberration is left to be dealt with by the camera’s software.

With angles of view amounting to 30 degrees the optics distortion correction is relatively easy; that’s why we are so surprised by the Fujinon result which is +1.49% for RAW files. Perhaps you cannot call that level especially bothersome but it also means that the optics constructors didn’t bother to correct that aberration.

In the case of JPEG files the distortion is additionally corrected a bit by software so its result amounted to +0.78%.
